Upcycling isn’t just a great way to reduce the amount of waste we produce and increase the longevity of our items, it can be a great way to start a small business, as it requires very little capital and resources. We have many visitors at our Salvage Yard who are small business owners and by purchasing something from us and taking the time to upcycle them into something new and desirable, can sell on to give the items some more life.
The great thing about upcycling is that it can be as simple or as complex as you like. If you have basic DIY skills, you can easily transform a piece of furniture with a few coats of paint, new handles, or a bit of sanding and staining. Alternatively, you can make more complex changes such as re-upholstering chairs, adding new legs, or giving an old piece of furniture a complete makeover.
